Thigh Lift Surgery
This surgery is a very good way to achieve more attractive and firmer upper legs. It is especially useful for those who have lost weight resulting in excess loose skin. This procedure involves removing excess fat, skin and some tissue to refine the shape of the upper legs. Sometimes it is possible to achieve good results with exercise and a healthy diet. But, the upper thighs are a particularly difficult area to correct in this way.
Thigh Lift is an ideal way to achieve firmer and more attractive upper thighs and legs. This surgery is suitable for people who are:
- In good general health
- Maintain stable weight
- Have a healthy diet and exercise regularly
- Do not smoke or drink excessive amounts of alcohol
There are several methods of performing Thigh Lift surgery. The method used by the surgeon will depend on the patient’s condition.
Inner Thigh Lift
This surgery corrects the most common problem area at the top of the inner thighs. The problem can be caused by age, weight loss or reduced skin elasticity.
There will be an incision in the groin/pubic area allowing access to the underlying tissues. This will be resulting in a scar which can easily be hidden by underwear. A wedge of skin and some fat can then be removed from the area and the remaining skin can be tightened and lifted improving the leg contours.
Medial Thigh Lift
A medial thigh lift is more extensive and is suitable for people who have lost a lot of weight. The surgery reduces excess skin and fat on the upper, inner thigh. It will result in re-shaping of the legs and the removal of fat and excess skin.
There will be an incision in the groin extending to the back of the upper thigh to the crease below the buttock.
This can be extended to include vertical incisions down the legs from the groin if the removal of more skin and tissue is desired.
There are also other variations of these methods but this will depend on the surgeon and the patient’s needs.
