When I was deciding about surgery I heard from Ginny about Dr. Wong and how he does this operation, I thought I would like to have it done. My husband agreed, but our travel plans are set up so long in advance, it was over a year before we could set aside the time. I thought I would need far longer to recover than I actually did! I like that Ginny didn’t put pressure on me to make a decision. I spent some time trawling through various web sites to research the procedure and the surgeon, Dr. Steve Wong. When I discovered he had trained in the UK, and was even a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, I had no hesitation in deciding to go ahead. I also realised that the fees were extremely reasonable compared to those charged in the UK. It looked like it was about a third of the cost charged for either upper or lower eyelids in London, and in KL I could do both! Ginny took me in to see Dr. Wong for the initial appointment. Before that, she had told me what his particular style of talking to a patient was like, and answered all the other questions I had about the procedure. When it came to the operation, Ginny was going away so she arranged for Edie to look after me. Ginny and Edie had both told me that Dr. Wong’s method is to take up the eyes at the end of the procedure and that the tape would stay on for two days so I had an idea of what it would be like. I was really surprised I only needed to take painkillers for less than two days after the procedure. After five days the stiches were removed and I just had a tiny bit of bruising under my eyes. I had expected to be black and blue? I was so happy to see that for the first time in my life I had upper eyelids, and the bags underneath my eyes had gone.
