Tummy Tuck Malaysia
This surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin
plus tightens weakened muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.
A flat and firm abdomen is something we would all like to have and sometimes exercise and weight
control cannot achieve these goals.
Healthy normal weight and proportioned people can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging.
This is usually caused by one of the following:
- Normal Aging – Skin loses elasticity and muscles weaken.
- Pregnancy – Abdominal muscles are stretched with each pregnancy often separating but do not return to the original position.
- Gaining and losing weight – This will also stretch muscles and skin. With younger people skin may recover and naturally becoming firm again but once mid age is reached this is unlikely.
A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. Though the results of this surgery are very long lasting it will still require individuals to practice healthy eating and lifestyle habits to maintain the best results.
If you have wrinkles and stretch marks on your abdomen, the wrinkles will be smoothed out. And also, some of the stretch marks may be removed but a tummy tuck cannot correct all stretch marks.
Tummy Tuck is one of the most popular Cosmetic Surgery Procedures.
To be a suitable candidate you should be:
- Physically healthy
- Not planning to lose a lot of weight
- Not planning to become pregnant
- A non- smoker (If you are a smoker planning this surgery, you should give up smoking at least one month before the date of your surgery. And also, do not start smoking again until at least one month after your surgery)
The Surgery

Complete abdominoplasty usually takes two to three hours. The surgeon will make a long incision in the lower abdomen from hipbone to hipbone. A second incision is made to free the Belly Button from surrounding tissue. The skin is then separated from the abdominal wall up to near your ribs and lifted. This allows access to the abdominal muscles which are tightened by pulling them close together and stitching them into their new position. This also provides a firmer abdomen and narrows the waist. The skin is then stretched down and the excess skin and fat are removed. A new incision is made for your belly button which is then stitched in place. The final incision line will be stitched but a temporary tube may be inserted to drain excess fluid from the surgical site.

Our surgeons specialize in this type of surgery and have safely and successfully performed Tummy Tuck surgeries over many years. We have received very positive testimonials from our past patients.
Possible Surgery risks include:
Anaesthesia risks, bleeding, infection, poor wound healing (more of a risk for individuals who smoke heavily), swelling, bruising, numbness, deep vein thrombosis.
Recovery:
For the first few days, your tummy will probably be swollen and you are likely to feel some pain and discomfort which can be controlled by medication. Our patients usually stay in the hospital for 3 nights to allow for a comfortable recovery. By the time you are discharged, you will up and walking around.
Returning to normal activities:
People heal at different rates and it may take you weeks or months to heal completely. Some people return to work after one to two weeks, while others take three or four weeks to rest and recuperate. This not only depends on how fast you heal but on the type of work you do.
Light exercise such as regular walks will help you heal better and faster, reduce swelling, improve blood circulation and tone muscles.
Strenuous exercise or weight lifting, however, should be avoided for 6 to 8 weeks or until you can do it comfortably.
Scars:
Your scar may actually appear to worsen during the first few months as it heals but this is normal. Expect it to take up to 6 months before your scar flattens out and lightens in colour. While the scar will not disappear completely it will fade to a thin red line which would normally be hidden below your bikini line.
Results:
Abdominoplasty produces excellent results for patients with weakened abdominal muscles or excess skin. When healed your tummy tuck surgery will result in a flatter, firmer abdomen and a more youthful body profile.
